The Tokyo 2020 Olympics was thrown into further doubt amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic after Canada said it would not be participating, while Australia has told its athletes to prepare for a 2021 Games.
Olympic chiefs admitted for the first time on Sunday night that the Tokyo Games, scheduled for this summer, could well be postponed as the killer virus continues to sweep across the world.
There have been growing calls for the Games to be put back until next year - just as football's European Championship finals have been.
But International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said it could take up to four weeks before a decision was announced.
