As many as 75 people in Tamil Nadu tested positive for novel coronavirus in last 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to over 300.
Except one, the remaining 74 participated in a religious congregation in Delhi last month. With 309 positive COVID-19 infections, Tamil Nadu has the highest number COVID-19 patients after Maharashtra.
Out of the total cases, 264 people attended the religious event in Nizamuddin, the state government confirmed. Delhi's Nizamuddin has emerged as the hotspot of coronavirus outbreak in the India.
Authorities said nearly 9,000 people related to the Delhi event were identified and quarantined across the country, reported news agency PTI.
