Corrie bosses confirm big changes as pandemic will feature in soap storylines

Although filming on the ITV soap has not yet resumed, it has been confirmed by Coronation Street bosses that the show will tackle the current global pandemic.

While other shows have decided to kind of brush over what’s going on in the real world, Corrie episodes will address it without being too overwhelming.

Showrunner Iain MacLeod confirmed that once filming is allowed to resume, the upcoming episodes will show elements of the recent crisis within the storylines.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Iain said: ‘The bottom line is we talked a lot about this, as you can well imagine, about whether Coronation Street would have a coronavirus presence in it or if we would exist in a parallel universe, everything proceeding in a pre-pandemic fashion.  ‘
