Country singer John Prine is in a ‘critical’ condition after being hospitalised with coronavirus symptoms. The 73-year-old was taken to hospital on Thursday after a ‘sudden onset of Coid-19 symptoms’, a statement shared to his Instagram page confirmed.

While it hasn’t been confirmed whether John has tested positive for coronavirus, such symptoms prompted John to be intubated on Saturday evening.

Intubation is where a tube is inserted into the mouth and airway, so that a patient can be placed on a ventilator to aid their breathing.

John’s family shared a message with fans via his Instagram on Sunday to give an update on his condition. It read: ‘After a sudden onset of Covid-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday (3/26).
