Coronavirus cases in London have increased, raising fears the capital could be plunged into Tier 3 before Christmas. London Mayor Sadiq Khan's office, which tracks infection levels in the capital, today confirmed the infection rate has increased when combining all the individual boroughs.
In a statement today, the office confirmed that in the most recent week of complete data, the week to December 1, the infection rate was registered as 164 cases per 100,000 population.
In the previous week the infection rate across London was 159 per 100,000 people. Both of these figures were recorded during the second lockdown - meaning the rate increased before the rules were relaxed.
