The entire Cabinet has to restrict their movements and the Dáil has been adjourned. It comes after Stephen Donnelly, the Health Minister, felt unwell this afternoon and contacted his GP for a Covid-19 test.
It is understood that members of Cabinet will restrict their movements rather than self-isolate. Government sources said ministers would approach the issue with "an abundance of caution" until the test result of Stephen Donnelly was known.
The action was taken on foot of guidance from the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn, given ministers were working closely together and, therefore, prudence was required.
