A determined dad ran a marathon in his back garden in a bid to repay the medics who saved his baby daughter’s life. Hamish Robertson, from Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, completed the gruelling 26 miles - as well as a half marathon, 10k and 5k - from the safety of his home to raise funds for the neonatal teams who treated his little girl, Isobel.

Isobel, who was born weighing just 2lb when she arrived at 26 weeks in summer 2018, spent three months being cared for in the Princess Royal Maternity Neonatal Unit in Glasgow.

Dad-of-two Hamish, 36, had been training to run 110km in one go around the Isle of Arran this June with two teammates for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
