EastEnders have been snubbed by BAFTA for the Best Soap Award after scooping the win last year. The BAFTA TV nominations for 2020 were announced today, and the BBC soap was noticeably not contenders for the gong this time round.
It was certainly a surprising and unexpected snub from the British Academy for TV and film, with ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale, among others, making the shortlist.
The London soap has iconically taken the win an astonishing nine times in the last 20 years, more so than any other of it's rivals.
Emmerdale, Corrie, Holby City and Casualty have all been named with a chance of taking home the 2020 win. EastEnders who recently celebrated their 35th Anniversary with a Titanic inspired episode, seeing Danny
