The Education Secretary is reportedly pushing to open schools again as soon as it is safe to do so - over fears for children's education.
Gavin Williamson is said to be concerned about the impact schools' closures can have on children - fearing in particular that poor and vulnerable students will be left behind if schools remain closed into late May due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
At the moment, schools are only open for the children of key workers and other pupils are expected to study while staying at home.
A source said Mr Williamson is worried about the lack of pupil-teacher interaction during this time as the pandemic continues to effect people globally.
