A headteacher in Manchester says people need to stop putting pressure on the government to reopen schools amid the pandemic.

The government has faced growing demand to get children back in the classroom, as it's seen as the first major step to getting people back to work and kick-starting the economy.

It's been reported that senior ministers have drawn up a three-phase plan to lift the coronavirus lockdown that would see schools reopen as early as May 11.

But this weekend education secretary Gavin Williamson responded by confirming that no date has been set for a return to education and it's understood Prime Minister Boris Johnson also favours a longer time-frame.
