Electric Ireland said today it would credit the bills of about 10,000 of its registered vulnerable customers with €100 credit each.

The company said the €1m credit will help those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic and is another customer commitment as part of its "Brighter Together Energy Programme" launched earlier this year.

Electric Ireland also announced the extension of its disconnection moratorium which started on October 22 and which will now run until March 1, 2021.

As well as Electric Ireland's 1.1 million residential customers being able to avail of the disconnection moratorium, the scheme will be extended to its business customers.
