Emmerdale has reportedly just nine episodes of the soap left before it runs out after the coronavirus crisis brought filming to standstill.

According to The Sun Online, ITV refused to deny that there were now fewer than 10 outings to the fictional village left before the serial drama is forced to go off-air.

Airing at its current rate of three episodes a week, Emmerdale will possibly come to an end at the beginning of next month. The ITV soap has been on air since 1972, when it was a teatime soap known as Emmerdale Farm that focused on the Sugden family.

Concerns were raised when talk began circulating online that the ITV soap was running short of content that it would come to an end in just a fortnight's time.
