FA Cup final may be played in October as FA hold on despite latest extraordinary ruling

The FA Cup final could be played in the autumn. It came after the Football Association made an extraordinary and unprecedented ruling on English football because of the coronavirus crisis.

But they made it clear they are determined not to abandon the FA Cup which is up to the quarter final stage. However, the final looks set to be delayed by months and could be as late as October.

The FA ruled all football results below the three National League divisions will be expunged but, like the EFL and Premier League, are determined to play the remaining cup fixtures.

The FA statement read: “Clubs involved are close to reaching a major Final and for those clubs and supporters we will do all we can to keep the Wembley dream alive.” Leicester face
