A great-grandmother's family has spoken out after they had to watch her die from coronavirus while perched on the top of a borrowed step ladder.
May Hastie's frantic relatives rushed to be by her bedside in her final moments and said the distress “will stay with her and her family for ever".
The tragic 85-year-old’s daughter, Angela McAlpine, claimed staff offered her “completely inadequate” protective equipment to enter the home and comfort her mum.
The family borrowed the steps and took it in turns to see May before died at Bonnyholm Gardens Care Home, in Glasgow. May’s relatives have since lodged an official complaint with the care inspectorate and have called on care homes to relax restrictions so that relatives can be close to dying
