Earlier today, I was sitting on a neighborhood park bench eating a sandwich when an elderly couple pulled their car up under a nearby oak tree. They rolled down the windows and turned up some jazz music on the radio. Then the man got out of the car, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door for the woman.

Hypermobility is a condition in which the joints have an unusually large range of motion. Curiously, studies have shown that neurodivergent individuals are more likely to experience hypermobility than the general population.1 What’s more, hypermobility may be a common thread binding neurodivergence to a range of physical health problems.“Joint hypermobility is actually a red herring,” said Jessica Eccles, Ph.D., a researcher at the Department of Neuroscience at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, in an ADDitude webinar. “It is the product of a difference in the cling film in our body — the connective tissue, which is everywhere — which means that joints can move further than they normally should.”Hypermobility doesn’t cause problems for most people.

October 20, 2025Autism diagnosed in early childhood is genetically distinct from autism diagnosed after age 10, according to a new study that identified two unique genetic profiles in early- and later-diagnosed autistic individuals. The study, published in Nature, found that later-diagnosed autism had a more significant genetic correlation to ADHD, as well as mental health conditions including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

On TikTok, #adhd is the seventh most popular health hashtag, which demonstrates the popularity and ubiquity of health content on social media.1However, Likes and Shares are not an indicator of accuracy, according to a recent study in PLOS ONE. "Hurry sickness" isn’t an ADHD-specific term. In fact, the phrase was coined back in 1974 by a cardiologist team writing about the damaging effects of a "Type A" personality on the heart. But the behavior pattern of constant rushing, and the feeling of chronic anxiety and overwhelm in response to expectations of productivity — that's something many adults with ADHD experience.Abundant evidence has demonstrated that ADHD makes nighttime rest difficult to achieve.
