The first Irish vaccinations are to take place before New Years, on either 30 or 31 December. Cabinet were told that around 10,000 batches of the Pfizer/BioNTech will arrive after Christmas.
At briefing where the tightening of Covid-19 restrictions were announced, the Taoiseach Micheál Martin said vaccines were on the way.
But he said that vaccinating millions of people would take time and in the meantime people have to be very vigilant. Mr Martin said we cannot go any faster than we are allowed by the available supply of the vaccines and the dosing schedules required for them to be effective.
