Kilmarnock's newest supermarket opened its doors yesterday following a makeover worth more than £750,000. Previously housing the town's Aldi store, the Glencairn Retail Park has been transformed to house the store that's part of the Iceland Foods group.The 10,434 sq ft shop has opened in the midst of a global pandemic, creating 30 new jobs in the process.
And staff at the new store showed their thanks for local heroes by donating food and drink to support the Crossgate Care Home and the Howard House Care Home in Kilmarnock with during the lockdown period.
The Kilmarnock store will also have a dedicated shopping hour for the NHS during the first hour of trading, to ensure that frontline staff can get the food they need.
