France's coronavirus lockdown ignored by 260,000 people with £25m of fines dished out

A staggering £25million’s worth of fines for breaking lockdown rules have been imposed in France since the measures were introduced to help stop the spread of coronavirus 11 days ago.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe revealed tonight that 260,000 French citizens had been fined for breaking the tough restrictions, which are crucial for stopping the spread of coronavirus.

He said there had been a total of 2,314 deaths form coronavirus so far – a jump of 319 in the last 24 hours.
