Over 1.4 million people across the UK have applied for state welfare support since social distancing measures were introduced towards the end of March in a global effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
The number of claimants, especially for Universal Credit and Employment Support Allowance (ESA ) is still higher than typical daily and weekly averages, but the initial surge to complete online applications appears to have levelled off with applicants now playing a waiting game for their funds.
There has also been a rise in the number of parents now eligible for Child Benefit due to a reduction in salary, furlough or redundancy - if your gross salary falls under the £50,000 threshold, you can now claim.
