The heartbroken parents of a one-year-old girl who tragically died due to gross neglect at Alder Hey Children's Hospital have spoken out, saying their daughter was "taken away from all the people that love her the most." Eleanor Aldred-Owen, from Mold in Wales, was diagnosed with bicoronal craniosynostosis when she was just 12 weeks old.
This condition meant that the sutures in her skull had fused prematurely, preventing normal growth and leaving her needing surgery to alleviate pressure on her brain.
An inquest into Eleanor's untimely death, held at Gerard Majella Coroner's Courthouse in Liverpool on Wednesday (December 18), heard Eleanor had attended Alder Hey for surgery on September 29 last year.
However, complications arose during the procedure, and the hospital "missed opportunities" to address them, reports the Liverpool Echo.
