Some NHS workers have been underpaid hundreds of pounds despite battling coronavirus on the frontline, it has been claimed. Staff, including nurses working on Covid-19 wards, are said to have seen a drop in their wages on Friday April 24 at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The error is believed to have affected staff who are paid weekly and was allegedly caused due to a tax code error, Liverpool Echo reports.

A woman, who spoke to the Echo but wants to remain anonymous, claimed staff must now wait until next month the be reimbursed the money they are owed.

She said people were left in tears as a result of the error and staff aren’t sure what they’re supposed to do until next month.
