It's "highly unlikely" all 50 stores of John Lewis will remain open when coronavirus lockdown ends, sources have told Press Association.
Sources close to the employee-owned retailer said bosses are in talks with its branches about plans to re-open stores but it is likely not all will open again, PA reports.
All 50 sites are "under continuous review", a spokesman for John Lewis told Daily Star Online. But it was "too early to make a decision", he added.
The chain furloughed 14,000 workers in the wake of the crisis and a retail analyst said it was likely it will sacrifice stores to secure the long term financial stability of the company.
