Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said he is still not in a position to recommend easing restrictions due to Covid-19 The Government is due to make an announcement on the restrictions tomorrow.
Last night, it was revealed that a further 31 deaths due to Covid-19 had been reported, bringing the total number of people who have died to 1,190 and a second person under the age of 24 has died.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases has exceeded 20,000 with 376 new cases reported yesterday. Dr Holohan said that the country is making great progress in slowing the growth rate of the disease but that with more than a 100 people in intensive care units, and hundreds of others in hospital with Covid-19 he was not in a position to recommend easing
