A hospital worker has penned an emotional open letter which details the PPE crisis faced by NHS staff. The health care worker claims the situation at Wythenshawe Hospital has reached "critical" over the last few days.
It comes after Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham said the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) is getting "bogged down by bureaucracy." Half a million surgical masks destined for Greater Manchester have been held up at Heathrow Airport since last Thursday, he revealed.
The worker claims staff are having to "scavenge" around hospital departments looking for protective gear after surgical masks have run out, and new masks don't fit properly.
