Andy Burnham today said that any significant release from the coronavirus lockdown would be 'premature'. The Greater Manchester Mayor was responding to Boris Johnson's announcement today that lockdown measures will start to be lifted on Monday "if possible".
The Prime Minister is expected to set out his 'road map' strategy for easing lockdown measures in an address to the nation on Sunday.
And at PMQs, Mr Johnson said the government hopes to start introducing the measures the following day 'if possible'. But Mr Burnham warned today that a 'significant release from lockdown would be premature'.
In response to a question asked by the MEN about the announcement, he said 'there are encouraging signs' that the numbers in new cases and COVID-19
