A popular video chat app is helping many people feel better in self-isolation, but experts say it could also be a "privacy nightmare".

As people around the world have been forced to stay home to stop the spread of coronavirus, Houseparty has proven very useful as it allows groups to video chat and play games, letting them stay connected.

There were two million downloads of the app, which was launched in 2016, in the last week alone. But there are concerns users may be unwittingly signing away much of their digital privacy.

When creating an account, customers must sign a privacy policy of more than 12,000 words, making it unlikely most people will read it.
