Houseparty app makers deny users' other online accounts are being hacked

The makers of video calling app Houseparty have denied claims the platform has led to other online accounts being hacked. Since coronavirus lockdown measures were introduced last week, people have turned to using the app to keep in touch with friends and family.

However, numerous posts appeared on social networks from users alleging that the app had resulted in their other online accounts - including Netflix, eBay, Instagram and Spotify - being hacked.

When signing up to Houseparty, users are able identify friends using phone contacts, as well as connect to Facebook and Snapchat to find and invite people on the platform.
