Harrowing pictures have emerged of a makeshift morgue for the bodies of coronavirus victims. Located at London's new NHS Nightingale Hospital, the images show refrigerated container units with row upon row of shelves.

Trucks carrying coffins began arriving at the field hospital, which was set up at the ExCel conference centre in just nine days, on Wednesday.

The Sun reports that the east London site's ICC Capital Hall, located on the ground floor, has now been turned into a 24-hour mortuary for the bodies of Covid-19 patients who do not make it.
