Inspirational video of patient who needed ventilator leaving ICU after more than a month

This is the heartwarming moment a coronavirus patient was clapped out of ICU by staff after falling so ill she needed a ventilator.

The patient, called Carol, spent more than a month in ICU at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan. But she made a recovery and was clapped out of intensive care to another ward to cheers from clinicians.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust posted a video of Carol leaving ICU on its social media accounts. In the post, put up on Monday afternoon, the trust said: "After spending over a month in ICU and requiring a ventilator Carol has been discharged. "We are so pleased for her and her family and everyone at WWL wishes her the very best for her recovery." Scores of people commented on the post,
