ORLANDO, Fla. - A 72-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail after he allegedly threw a beer bottle at a Muslim man and made comments about his religion, and authorities are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.According to the arrest report, a group of people was outside a hookah lounge in Orlando on Wednesday and one of the men was apparently in traditional Muslim clothing. Victor Dubauskas, of Orlando, stopped to question the group of people about "where they were from and their religion," the report said. He then singled out the man in the group who was wearing traditional clothing.Victor Dubauskas, who is charged with assault and battery after throwing a beer bottle in the direction of a Muslim man and threatening to kill a group of people, according to deputies.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man was injured in a broad daylight shooting Friday afternoon outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Officer were called to the area of 12th and Vine streets around 5 p.m for reports of a shooting. Philadelphia Police Captain John Walker told reporters that officers found a blood trail for several blocks that lead them to a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition, according to police. Walker said investigators believe the shooting happened during an argument between two men. The shooter, a Black man wearing all black clothes and a white "item" on his head, then walked to 13th Street where investigators lost sight of him.Walker told reporters that there were people around during the shooting happened.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A man is facing charges for a deadly beating in Minneapolis that was recorded and posted on Facebook last month.Nineteen-year-old Emmanuel Davis is charged with murder for the violent attack that happened just over a month ago on March 6. He was taken into custody last month by Minneapolis police, about two weeks after the attack.According to the criminal complaint, police believe Davis used his girlfriend to lure the victim into an ambush.Police learned of the attack on March 6 after being alerted by a family member of the victim who said they were sent a video showing her family member being violently attacked.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison for shining a laser pointer at an airborne Philadelphia police helicopter last December. Raji Yusuf, 36, will also serve three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $1,000 fine, according to United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams.Prosecutors said a Philadelphia police helicopter with two aboard was on routine night patrol near the Northeast Philadelphia Airport around 10 p.m. when the aircraft was struck multiple times by a "high intensity green laser."The laser illuminated the cockpit and temporarily distorted the officers vision, according to investigators.

LEBANON, Pa. - A man who broke into his stepfather's house opened fire on responding police officers, killing a lieutenant one month away from retirement and wounding two other officers, a prosecutor said Thursday, releasing details of last week's gunfight that also killed the suspect.Lebanon City Police Lt. William Lebo, 63, and three other uniformed officers were met with immediate gunfire when they entered the home on Forest Street, where the suspect had smashed a window to gain entry, Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf said at a news conference.Travis Shaud, 34, of Lebanon, kept firing even after being hit by return fire, Graf said, but eventually went down and was pronounced dead at the scene.

TRENTON, N.J. - A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning in the shooting death of a nine-year-old girl in Trenton.The hearing will determine whether or not Isiah Roberts, 19, will be held without bail after he was charged with murder and related charges in the death of SeQuoya Bacon-Jones. Authorities say Bacon-Jones and her brother were playing in the courtyard in Kingsbury Square on March 25 when two women began fighting nearby over a social media post. As the fight began, police say Roberts became involved in an altercation with another man nearby.

NEW YORK - A man who moved into his daughter's college dorm and charmed her schoolmates with stories about his wisdom was convicted Wednesday of charges that he exploited the close-knit group, using threats and violence to enrich himself with millions of dollars.Lawrence Ray, 62, was convicted at a trial where weeks of testimony chronicled his psychologically manipulative relationship with young people he met in fall 2010 at Sarah Lawrence College, a small New York liberal arts school. Ray moved into his daughter's dorm after finishing a prison stint for a securities fraud conviction.Sentencing was set for Sept. 16 on charges including racketeering, conspiracy, forced labor, sex trafficking and obstruction of justice.

PHILADELPHIA - A man has been acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of the son of a high-ranking police official during a brawl at a south Philadelphia park three years ago.A Common Pleas Court jury on Wednesday acquitted 22-year-old Tyquan Atkinson of murder, criminal conspiracy and weapons offenses in the March 2019 death of 20-year-old Nicholas Flacco at FDR park.Prosecutors said the victim was tailgating with friends after a Phillies game when several fights broke out among women from different groups and one threatened to "call her man." Officials said a man later fired twice and left but shortly afterward returned and shot Flacco, the son of an Internal Affairs commander who was home from college.Prosecutors showed a video of the brawl, called eyewitnesses and cited cell phone records they said put Atkinson in the park at the time of the shooting.But Atkinson took the stand and denied any role in the killing, saying he wasn't in the park and was elsewhere in south Philadelphia that night. He said he drove by the park at some point and saw police lights flashing, but did not go in.

CINCINNATI - An Ohio man has given up food for lent to sustain a liquid diet consisting only of beer. According to local news outlet WCPO, this is Dell Hall’s fourth consecutive year sustaining a beer-only diet, but he said it’s not about getting drunk. "You can, you know, use a beer in a very healthy way and not vilify it as this, you know, evil alcohol," Hall said. PHILADELPHIA, Pa - Police are searching for three suspects they say fired dozens of shots at a man in a Southwest Philadelphia shooting that was caught on video late last month.The shooting occurred on the 2500 block of South Shields Street on March 18. Police say the 61 shots that were fired only damaged unattended vehicles. No people were reported to be injured. In a doorbell camera video that captured the shooting, three males are seen running down South Shields Street, firing gunshots at a fourth male.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, with assistance from Attorney General Keith Ellison, has declined to bring charges against Mark Hanneman, the Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed Amir Locke while serving a no-knock search warrant in February.Mike Freeman, the Hennepin County Attorney, wrote there is "insufficient admissible evidence" to file criminal charges in the case."Specifically, the State would be unable to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt any of the elements of Minnesota’s use-of-deadly-force statute that authorizes the use of force by Officer Hanneman. PHILADELPHIA - Advocates and community organizers in Philadelphia are calling for a change after a rise in gun violence, which has started to claim the lives of children and teenagers. On Monday, 15-year-old Juan "J.R." Carlos Robles-Corona was fatally shot while walking home from school in North Philadelphia. Juan Carlos Robles-Corona, who went by "J.R.", was shot and killed in North Philadelphia.  His death came a little more than a week after another 15-year-old was shot and killed in Wissonoming. Chantay Love, the President and co-founder of Every Murder Is Real (EMIR), and Reuben Jones, the Executive Director of the Teen Safe Center in North Philadelphia, joined Good Day Philadelphia to discuss how they are working to combat violence and keep young people safe. EMIR was started after Love's brother was murdered at the age of 20 in Philadelphia in March 1997. "He was murdered and it changed the life of our family," Love said.
