One of the recordings shows a 9th grader being pummeled on the school bus, other fights have erupted inside school stairwells and classrooms. One mother who spoke to FOX 29 claimed that both of her daughters were being bullied.

Antler River Elementary School on Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN), located just west of London, Ont., will have to wait until at least early October before they can return to the classroom as the community contends with an uptick in COVID-19 cases.Officials with the Chippewas of the Thames Board of Education confirmed in a social media post on Thursday that the school would be closed for at least six school days, with a planned reopening date of Oct. 3.The closure comes in response to a recommendation from Chippewa Health Centre after the school saw a high number of student and staff absences on Wednesday due to illness, said the board of education’s director of lifelong learning, Joette Lefebvre, in a statement.The school was forced to close on Wednesday as a result, and remained closed on Thursday, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page.

A study has revealed that people who have had Covid-19 infection are at a higher risk of a long-term brain injury, a year later compared to the people who have never been infected with the virus. The year-long study, published in Nature Medicine, assessed brain health across 44 different disorders using medical records without patient identifiers from millions of US veterans. Brain and other neurological disorders occurred in 7 per cent more of those who had been infected with Covid compared with a similar group of veterans who had never been infected.

NARBERTH, Pa. - An investigation is underway after a teenager was injured in a Narberth shooting on Wednesday night, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. The DA's Office says a gun was discharged by juveniles inside a home in Narberth, leaving one injured with a non-life-threatening injury. A letter sent to the Lower Merion School District Community and obtained by FOX 29 said students from the district may have been involved. "The nature of that involvement remains unclear at this time, as the investigation into the incident is ongoing," Superintendent of Schools Khalid N. A study has said that most coronavirus-infected patients who experience long Covid recover within 12 months, irrespective of the severity. COLOMBO (News 1st) – Lanka Coal (Private) Limited says it will not sign a contract with the supplier it selected to supply coal to Sri Lanka on long-term credit.A senior official attached to Lanka Coal (Private) Limited says the decision was reached as the supplier had failed to place a performance bond of 37 million dollars.He added that the supplier did place the performance bond due to the prevailing credit risk and legal conditions.Therefore, the required coal will be imported to Sri Lanka through Swiss Singapore which bid for the tender.Senior Spokesperson to Swiss Singapore says 50 percent of the tender was procured last year, and the remainder will be procured this year.Although plans were in place to procure the remainder after December this year, steps are now being taken to expedite the process.Accordingly, orders have been placed for five shipments carrying 60,000 metric tonnes of coal each.The first shipment is due to reach Sri Lanka between the 20th and 25th of October.Lanka Coal (Private) Limited says if Sri Lanka decides to purchase coal from the selected supplier on long-term credit, the country would benefit USD 30 from every metric tonne of coal imported to Sri Lanka.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Thursday morning. According to police, the shooting occurred on the 400 block of North 35th Street around 12:30 a.m. Officials say officers received several 911 calls reporting a shooting. Responding officers say they found an unresponsive 23-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with one gunshot wound to the neck. Police transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m., per authorities. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to Chief Inspector Scott Small, four spent shell casings were discovered near the victim. Police say one bullet went through the first-floor window of a nearby apartment. The apartment's two occupants were asleep during the time of the shooting and they were not injured, officials say. No one inside the apartment was hurt, authorities say. Small says Drexel University police also responded, but the victim is not believed to be a student. Police continue to investigate and say numerous private surveillance cameras will be evaluated as the investigation continues.
