Jury trials in the crown court are set to resume from next week - with social distancing measures put in place. The Lord Chancellor, Robert Buckland QC, said a 'limited number' of trials would take place, 'conducted safely and observing social distancing rules'.
The Old Bailey in London and Cardiff Crown Court will be involved, but there was no mention in the announcement by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett, of either of Manchester's two crown courts, or Bolton Crown Court.
He said: "It is important that the administration of justice continues to function whenever it is possible in an environment which is consistent with the safety of all those involved." Second courtrooms, linked by CCTV, will be offered to enable reporters and others
