Kate Garraway has given an update on her husband, Derek Draper’s condition as he continues to fight the complications caused by coronavirus.The presenter revealed that while Derek is still in a coma, he has opened his eyes a few times since the doctors withdrew the drugs that put him into an induced coma to help his body recover.
She told The Sun that she was hopeful it was a sign he could eventually recover: ‘There is no reason to think that his hearing isn’t working. ‘And he’s opened his eyes, so the hope is that he moves through stages of consciousness and emerges.’Kate had earlier revealed that she had had a terrifying conversation with one of his consultants who warned her there was a chance Derek could remain in his coma forever.
