A Kildare man has beaten Covid-19 after being on life support in ICU for 57 days and over five weeks in a coma and on a ventilator.
Oliver Doyle, 73, from Kildare Town, was greeted by his overjoyed family as he left Tallaght Hospital in Dublin today and later was greeted to a hero's welcome when he returned home to Kildare.
It is the second time that Mr Doyle has successfully come out of a coma in ICU at Tallaght Hospital. Two years ago he was treated for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer that affects the blood.
He spent ten days in a coma and during his recovery he had to learn to walk, eat and talk. He has also battled prostate cancer.
