PHILADELPHIA - City officials have reported two heat-realted deaths in Philadelphia over the weekend as a dangerous heatwave continues to bake the Delaware Valley. A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health told FOX 29 that both deaths happened during the city's Heat Health Emergency. The spokesperson did not share information on the age of the people who died or the circumstances that lead to their deaths. Philadelphia declared a Heat Health Emergency last week as temperatures cranked into the mid-to-upper 90s with humidity. DEWEY BEACH, Del. - Police have identified a man who was struck and killed by a car along a highway in a Delaware beach town after they say he was forced out of a rideshare vehicle following an argument with the driver.Sidney Wolf, 43, of Clarksburg, Maryland died just before 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Coastal Highway near Anchors Way in Dewey Beach.Police say Wolf and five others hired a Lyft driver to pick them up in Dewey Beach and take them to their residence in nearby Bethany Beach.After a disagreement with the group, police say the driver stopped the vehicle in the middle of the southbound lanes of Coastal Highway, terminated the ride, and demanded the passengers exit.Authorities say a car traveling southbound swerved to miss the Lyft driver’s stopped vehicle and struck Wolf who had just exited and was standing in the roadway.Police say Wolf died at the scene.

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - The mother of a man arrested for a deadly road rage shooting in Springfield is now being charged in connection with the case. According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Amanda Washington was charged with hindering prosecution in the case relating to the death of 54-year-old King Hua. On June 29, Hua and his wife were driving south on State Road in the curb lane when Amanda Washington passed them on the shoulder in her dark blue Chevrolet Equinox, authorities say. Washington's son, 22-year-old Saddiq Washington, was in the passenger seat of the car and fired the fatal shots that killed Hua, according to police. Springfield Township's Chief Daly said "The suspect's vehicle pulls on to the shoulder of the road, got ahead of the victim's vehicle, got out of the vehicle, fired two shots at the vehicle which permeated the window, killing the operator." After the shooting, Amanda Washington and her son fled southbound at a high rate of speed, according to investigators. Police say surveillance video showing Washington's car and license plate coupled with witness testimony helped lead investigators to the suspects. Once officers arrived at the Darby address listed on the car's registration, they saw the vehicle in the driveway and began surveilling the house while waiting for a warrant, per authorities. According to police, Washington and two other females were seen leaving the Darby home and getting into the Chevrolet Equinox around 5 a.m.

MARPLE TWP, Pa. - Authorities in Delaware County are searching for two people accused of stealing an elderly woman's wallet at a local grocery store and buying thousands in gift cards.The alleged theft happened July 4th in the parking lot of the Giant supermarket on West Chester Pike, according to the Marple Township Police Department. Investigators say the pair distracted the elderly victim, then stole her wallet and immediately bought over $2,000 in Visa gift cards from a nearby CVS. DA: Officials investigating death of a prisoner at Yeadon police station

YEADON, Pa. - Officials in Delaware County are investigating the death of a prisoner who died while in police custody Tuesday. The death happened inside the Yeadon Police Department sometime during the afternoon, according to officials.
