Coronavirus infection rates in England are now highest in London, new figures show. The capital had the highest average infection rate in the country - 191.8 per 100,000 people - for the week of November 30 to December 6, according to the weekly surveillance survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
This is despite cases plateauing across the rest of England. Case rates have fallen the most in the West Midlands. The figure is down from 196.8 per 100,000 the previous week to 158.4 this week.
Hospital admissions for coroanvirus has declined as a whole in England. It was was 13.70 per 100,000 in the last week, compared to 14.70 in the previous one.
