The Maharashtra government is planning to rope in over 1.25 lakh AYUSH doctors in the state to strengthen the frontline medical teams for the treatment of covid-19, The Department of AYUSH covers streams of alternative treatment like ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homeopathy.
These doctors would be trained online over the next week, state health minister Rajesh Tope said. Already 250 AYUSH facilitators have been trained in the state through online programs and they will, in turn, train the 1.25 lakh doctors who have been identified.
He further added that 1,500 ventilators and 2.5 lakh N95 masks had been arranged as well. Also 25,000 PPE kits had been made available.
