A man in his 20s who is accused of coughing at a garda in Cavan and claiming he had coronavirus has been remanded in custody.
Craig Donegan, with an address at Seangharri, Ballinagh was arrested following a public order incident in the Cavan village at around 3am this morning.
He was taken to Cavan Garda Station where it is alleged he coughed at a member of An Garda Síochana and then stated he had coronavirus.
He appeared before a special sitting of Cavan District Court today charged with a series of public order offences. They include intoxication in a public place, engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour and failing to comply with the direction of a member of An Garda Síochana.
