Manchester United may be forced to cough up £10.8million if they cannot convince Alexis Sanchez to take a pay cut. The Chilean has two years remaining on his Red Devils contract, which he signed back in 2018, and is worth a staggering £450,000-a-week.

United are trying to find a buyer for Sanchez, who failed to hit the ground running at Old Trafford under former boss Jose Mourinho, before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent him out on loan to Inter Milan.

But there are very few clubs able to afford the ex-Arsenal star's eye-watering wages, and given the current climate of financial uncertainty sparked by the coronavirus pandemic, this is unlikely to change.
