A mum and daughter died within weeks of each other after they both contracted coronavirus. Shirley Bannister, 57, and Demetria Bannister, 28, both teachers, contracted the virus last month.

Demetria was a third grade teacher at Windsor Elementary School in Columbia while Shirley was the chair of a nursing department.

Dennis Bell, Shirley's brother, paid tribute to the 'loving and driven women' and said they were 'inseparable'. He said: "Demetria was almost a spitting image of Shirley — in her mannerisms and the way she carried herself. "She loved mentoring kids and making learning fun.
