Nearly 20,000 new Covid cases reported since Saturday

A total of 19,852 new Covid-19 cases have been reported since Saturday, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, with more than 800 people with the virus now being treated in hospital.

The Department of Health was today notified of 2,383 additional PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19, as well as 4,760 positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal.

Yesterday, a total of 1,254 PCR-confirmed cases were notified, while 3,537 positive antigens were logged through the portal.

On Saturday, 3,904 new PCR-confirmed cases were logged, while 4,014 people registered a positive antigen test. There are currently 808 people being treated in hospital with Covid-19, the highest figure since 25 January, and an increase of 59 on yesterday.
