FARMINGTON, N.M. - At least three people were dead and multiple others wounded Monday after a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, police said, and schools citywide were put on lockdown."There are multiple civilian victims," Farmington police reported via Facebook, adding that one suspect "was confronted and killed on scene."Two officers were shot including a member of the city police and one with the New Mexico State Police, the message said.

Both were reported to be in stable condition at San Juan Regional Medical Center."The suspect’s identity is unknown and there are no other known threats at this time," police said, adding that city, San Juan County and state police were involved.The shooting was reported shortly after 11 a.m.

Teen surfer recalls shark attack off New Jersey coast: 'It pulled me down a little bit'

STONE HARBOR, N.J. - A local girl is recovering from what officials believe to be a shark bite she suffered while surfing along the Jersey coast days before beachgoers head to the water for the unofficial start of summer.Maggie Drozdowski, 15, said she was surfing with a friend off the beach near 109th Street in Stone Harbor when she felt something wrap around her foot and try to tug her under. "I felt something around my foot, and it pulled me down a little bit," Maggie said. "I shook my leg as hard as I could to get it off, but it just wouldn't." Maggie credits her 3 millimeter wetsuit for giving her enough protection to keep the suspected shark from inflicting much more serious injuries. "I went over the wave and she went under it, she screamed and I turned around because I thought she was drowning or something, but she got up and she said ‘I think something bit me," said Sarah O’Donnell, a friend who was with Maggie during the attack. Medics were called to the beach and rushed Maggie to Cape May Regional Medical Center for treatment that included six stitches.

Police share photos of group accused of trying to rob Bucks County motorsports store

NEW BRITIAN, Pa. - Authorities in Bucks County are searching for a group of masked men who they say tried to rob a local motorsport store under the cover of night. The Central Bucks Regional Police Department said the attempted robbery happened at Smith Marine around 2 a.m. last Tuesday. Police shared a picture of the six suspects dressed in dark clothes with hoods and masks.

BOSTON - Rick Hoyt, who with his father pushing his wheelchair became a fixture at the Boston Marathon and other races for decades, has died. He was 61.Hoyt died of complications with his respiratory system, his family announced on Monday."Rick along with our father, Dick, were icons in the road race and triathlon worlds for over 40 years and inspired millions of people with disabilities to believe in themselves, set goals and accomplish extraordinary things," the Hoyt family said in a statement.Rick Hoyt had cerebral palsy, which left him a quadriplegic, but he and his father became as much a part of the Boston Marathon as sore feet or Heartbreak Hill.

Child dropped over Mexico-U.S. border in footage captured by surveillance camera

SAN DIEGO - A heartbreaking scene was captured of a person appearing to drop a child over the Mexico-California border.Raul Ortiz, the 25th Chief of the United States Border Patrol, tweeted the video on May 21 showing a 4-year-old child being dropped into San Diego.The person who dropped the child is still unknown, and in the video, several others crossed over into the U.S. by climbing the border wall."Responding Agents and EMS providing first aid to the child also reported gunshots near their position while tending to the child.
