Vaccine boosters for people aged 60 and over have been approved by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC). The approval was confirmed at a meeting in Government Buildings last night where the coalition party leaders considered advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team around the possible further easing of restrictions this Friday.

However, no decision has been reached yet by NIAC on a vaccination programme for health care workers. The matter is being kept under review by the advisory committee, but the Government considers it an urgent matter.

It is understood that NPHET urged the Government to pause the original plan to end almost all Covid-19 restrictions from Friday.
