Nicola Sturgeon likely to announce further coronavirus restrictions today after lockdown review

Nicola Sturgeon is to consider introducing the “rule of six” restrictions on social gatherings in Scotland in an effort to halt the surge in coronavirus cases, particularly amongst the young.

The First Minister will announce later on Thursday if Scotland will follow the move by Boris Johnson as she urges people to download the new NHS Scotland contact tracing app for mobile phones.Given that the Scottish Government has taken a more cautious approach to easing lockdown it is unlikely that the First Minister will lift any existing restrictions and could impose more.Sturgeon had already warned her latest review was “likely to take a very cautious approach”.More than one million Scots in and around Glasgow are under limited lockdown and not.
