We lived with the extremes of Covid-19 for so long, now that the impact of the virus has waned, the world feels a much more comfortable place.

While people's lives have returned to relative normality, Covid-19 has not gone away. And there will be important lessons to learn from the pandemic.

Health experts say that Covid-19 will play its part in the coming winter, along with influenza, as the weather turns colder, and people mix indoors more. 16,000 deaths saved here We are now in the season of respiratory virus circulation and the influenza vaccination and Covid-19 booster campaigns are under way.

Details published this month by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) show that a study has found that the Covid-19 vaccination programme here saved an estimated 16,000 deaths.
