The highest daily number of new positive coronavirus cases has been recorded in Northern Ireland. A total of 1,080 cases were notified by the Department of Health in its daily update.
This is the highest daily total since the current testing model was introduced. It comes as it emerged that Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill is self-isolating after a family member tested positive for Covid-19.
There have been 5,272 new cases of the virus reported in the last seven days, bringing the overall total number of cases confirmed in Northern Ireland to 18,190.
As of today, 132 Covid patients were being treated in hospital, with 16 in intensive care units and ten on ventilators. No further deaths were reported by the department, leaving the toll
