Pair caught breaking lockdown rules as they make 440-mile round trip to Glasgow to buy 'cheaper' car

Two men have been caught flouting the lockdown rules as police rumbled their 440 mile round-trip to Glasgow to buy a car. Police pulled the two men over in Carlisle as they attempted head to Scotland from Oldham, near Manchester, on Friday.

Both of the men claimed that they made the risky three and a half hour journey to purchase a car because they said it was ‘cheaper’.

Officers have now reported the pair for breaching emergency coronavirus laws, which prevents the public from making non-essential journeys.

They have also been urged to “stay out of Cumbria” by police.A spokesperson for Cumbria Road Police said: “Two male occupants stopped near Carlisle on their journey from Oldham to Glasgow to buy a car because its ‘cheaper’.
