'Anguish' for over-70s as hopes are dashed with 'stay at home' lockdown message

Pensioners face further anguish as the Government doubled down on its advice for them to stay at home while restrictions on others are lifted.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged over-70s to remain indoors and avoid contact with people outside their households. He also advised pregnant women and those with underlying health issues against meeting others to protect themselves from coronavirus.

It comes after the Government eased lockdown restrictions in England, allowing people to exercise more outside and to meet a pal or a family member in the park.
