Pharmacy denies profiteering - after charging £5.70 for painkillers

A pharmacy has insisted it was not profiteering from the coronavirus crisis after the price of painkillers in store rocketed by £4.

Gospel Lane Pharmacy in Solihull said it was forced to sell co-codamol for £5.70 - £4 more than the regular price - as it said cost price had increased.

Members of the public have been taking to social media to publicly slam various corner shops and pharmacies over their increased costs for essentials as more tragically lose their lives to covid-19, Birmingham Live reports.

One mum said she was 'gobsmacked' when she realised she had been overcharged for co-codamol at the pharmacy in the midst of a national crisis.
