Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He is the first prime minister outside of the Indian National Congress to win two consecutive terms with a full majority and the second to complete five years in office after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
PM Narendra Modi takes stock as cyclone Amphan set to make landfall
NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high level meeting with officials of the Union home ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), to review the arising cyclone situation in various parts of the country.
While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the Super Cyclone is expected to make a landfall on West Bengal coast on the afternoon of 20 May as an extremely severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds ranging up to 195 kmph, it is likely to result in spells of very heavy rainfall and subsequent heavy damage in the coastal districts of the state.
